Within its deliciously designed pages you'll also find 30 indulgent recipes from some of the business' top chefs. Last week my copy of SprinkleBakes arrived and I have to say it's an absolutely beautiful book full of beautiful sweet inspiration. The tart is buttery yet light, sweet and refreshing. Laduree's most famous creation, the macaron, was created at the beginning of the 20th century by Pierre Desfontaines, the second cousin of Louis Ernest Laduree, who had the bright idea of placing two macaron shells together and filling them with ganache. An exhaustive look at Parisian macarons (with pictures of Laduree macarons), lots of recipes from around the web and how to make them in your own home! Early Christmas gifts for me :). I love hot chocolate, but I'm always a little bit sad when I can't finish one because it's too rich. Caterina also brought with her to the French table new protocol, such as the separation of salty and sweet dishes, at a time when sweets were still consumed together with meat and fish in the medieval style all over Europe. The strawberry tart recipe from Ladurée especially tugged at my heart strings. All the ones I've had are way too sweet! You also reminded me that I needed to order Laduree: The Sweet Recipes in English too! Try your hand at vanilla lavender éclair's from The Savoy, or the Ladurée's chocolate French macaroons.
